Okay….is it possible that we have already reached eight months of monthly Au-Pair Updates from Franziska with just two left? It’s true, friends. Crazy. And okay, let’s not count how many times I’ve used the words ‘crazy’ or ‘exciting’ or ‘can’t believe’ for these introduction paragraphs…way too much, that’s for sure.
But now, let’s just jump into this eighth update. And guys, thank you for sticking around with me. It means a lot! Okay!
But now for real 😀

I would say all in all my eighth month was pretty good. The kids were on Spring Break and of course that was a bit exhausting, having them around all day long but I like that it is (most of the times :-)) less stressful and that you can actually do things since they aren’t exhausted from school.
It was also a waiting month because the days went by so slow until my family came. But then, the day came and my sweet friend picked me up from home and we spent a relaxing day in Vancouver which was super nice and got me a bit distracted from the big reunion and the overthinking on how their flight was going etc.
The reunion (is it just me, or is that word just a bit over dramatic?!) was very happy. My sisters grew up sooo much and they are now both taller than me 😀 And just then, when I saw them again I realized how dearly I missed them and how easily I can get used to having them around me again.
We had a lot of fun, saw and visited many places and went on a few cool trips 🙂
When it was time for them to go back home, I was sad, of course but I tried to keep myself distracted by starting new To-Do list, working on my university portfolio and my friend and I also booked flights to Seattle (exciting!!) which will be something I can look forward to 🙂 But I really miss the hugs and the inside jokes I have with my sisters and ahh I don’t know…just being with them, I guess.

The main experience was for sure that I saw a lot of new places this month.
When we were in Vancouver for the first week, we did a city tour where we saw lots of cool places and spots. I would definitely recommend doing a city tour in whatever city you are. You will see and experience so so much you wouldn’t if you were by yourself.
The other days we went to Whistler, Ucluelet, Tofino and Victoria and all places were just cool. My family got to meet my host family as well which was a lot of fun.
I am for sure going to write some other posts about the places we visited soon because I have a loooot of pictures to share 🙂 But for now, my posts about Ucluelet and Whistler are already up 🙂 You can check them out here and here.

I just had the kids for the first half of the month since I was away for the other but they were so good. Really good listeners and I tried hard to do a lot of crafts with them, take them outside to the park and just prevent a colorful spring break program 🙂 I, for sure, had a lot of fun.
Tomorrow, as I am writing this, it’s going to be my first real day after my break and I am excited to see how it goes. Good, hopefully 🙂 Also, I feel like while I was away for two weeks, they have grown so so so so much!! Probably I am just imagining it but stilllllll!

I was really excited to see how the first encounter between my two families would be and it was great. At the point, when we met my host family for dinner, I realized how much I missed them. How much I missed talking to them and cuddling the kids. My family really really likes them and in my opinion they had great talks and the communication went very well. I definitely can’t wait to go to Hawaii with them soon! 🙂

Uff…well after I told you in my last update that I did really good on saving money, I spend some on clothes and accessories. I don’t regret it but I just don’t know if it was THAT necessary…
And now I had to book my connection flight to get to Vancouver for my flight back home and a friend of mine and I also booked flights to Seattle (which I am soooooo stoked about) and I guess that I will have to spend a bit money on that project as well then soon….
Oh, yeah, and then the packages with my stuff in them I have to send home…uhmmm yes….so not excited… 😀

When my family was here I realized again how much my English developed and how much more confident I am with speaking English and how much easier it is to understand other people. I became to role of the translator in our family and it felt good to show them how I improved my English 🙂 And even my host mom asked my parents if they realized how good my English became. That made me really happy :-))

I tried to read Jane Eyre but I am just not making any progress… So I switched to Meet Cute again and well…maybe the short stories will help. We’ll see but I try not to push myself anymore because it’s really not helping.

Okay, two things 🙂
At first my trip to Seattle with my dear friend. We wanted to do it for so long and finally it’s happening! I can’t wait. Our trips are always so much fun 🙂
And then Hawaii with my host family. I’ve never been to Hawaii and I can just imagine how magical it will be there.
i m p r o v e m e n t – i m p r o v a b l e
- Sometimes I just have to remind myself how blessed I am and that I can be happy being an Au-Pair
- A few weeks ago I set myself reminders for every day, including stretching in the morning or writing in my 5-Minute-Journal and since then I did all tasks (except reading) every day and that makes me really happy and it makes me feel really productive 🙂
- I feel like since my family was here I don’t feel all nervous about going downtown by myself anymore. And to be honest, I can’t wait to go there again and visit the places again, I visited with my family. Is that weird??
- Planning. I am pretty proud about myself because Planning has become a big priority of mine at the moment and it helps me a lot 🙂
It’s a wrap! 1223 words later and I’ve summed up my eighth month as an Au-Pair in Canada. Can’t believe I’ve already came so far.
