What to do in Victoria, BC: A Travel Guide

While I was living in Canada, I fell in love with the capital city of British Columbia, Victoria. It is such a beautiful, diverse place which you just have to love.

In this post I am going to give you some insights to my favorite places in and around Victoria and hope I can help and show you what an amazing city it is.

The Butchart Gardens

My favorite place. As you might know, I am a huuuge flower lover and The Butchart Gardens are perfect for that matter.

The gardens will look different every season you visit this place, which makes it so appealing. Lots of lights during Christmas, a sea of tulips during spring and a dream of peonies and roses during summer time. Definitely a must see when you are in the area!

Mount Douglas

If you want to go on a little, easy hike with a breathtaking view of Victoria then I can definitely recommend Mount Douglas.

The trail up to the top is easy and fast and you could even take your car to the top if you want to. You will have an amazing view over the city, the ocean and the mountains. Everything which makes this area so magical.

The Empress Hotel

When my family came for a visit, we spent our time in different cities. One of them was Victoria and we had an unforgettable experience with staying at The Empress Hotel. The architecture reminds me of a castle and it is the most beautiful building I’ve ever seen.

The inside is gorgeous too and I can definitely recommend participating in one of the traditional tea ceremonies. It is an experience you’ll never forget. The food is sooo delicious and you will feel like a royal 🙂

Right next to the Empress Hotel you can find the impressive Parliament Building. You can book a tour to learn more about its history or just lay in front of the building and enjoy the beautiful harbor view of Victoria 🙂

Royal BC Museum

I’ve always wanted to visit The Royal BC Museum and when I finally went there I was surprised by what it provided.

At the beginning of the exhibition you will get to know a little bit more about the history of Canada, British Columbia and its people. After that it will be like you are walking through another time. It’s so cool! They recreated all the places and different times and I would really really recommend going there! It’s so cool!

Also, at the moment they are having an Egypt exhibition which is very interesting too!

Victoria’s Beaches

A thing which amazes me over and over again about this beautiful place on earth is that there is the possibility to go up on the mountain in the morning and lay at a beach in the afternoon. How cool is that please?! So, I can definitely recommend visiting different beaches when you have the time. My favorite one was at Cordova Bay Road. It’s so pretty! And if you are lucky you might be able to see a seal who tries to show off with its tricks or a beautiful rainbow at the horizon 🙂
