When I was writing on this blog post, so many memories came up. I used to love these kinds of haul blog posts when I was just starting out with blogging. Ruth, from Lila Blumenwiese, inspired me to write this post and I am so grateful for it. Thank you so much 🙂

Okay, so, some of these books are in German, some are in English. Some I bought with my own money, some were gifted to me. No matter what, I love all of them and I can’t wait to read and share them with you 🙂 Have fun reading!

J.D. Salinger Anniversary Collection

…In honour of the centennial of the birth of J.D. Salinger in 1919, Penguin reissues all four of his books in beautiful commemorative hardback editions – with artwork and text based on the very first Salinger editions published in the 1950s and 1960s.

Penguin Books UK sent me this collection of Salinger’s works and I couldn’t be happier about it. I haven’t read The Catcher in the Rye yet but heard so many good things about it that I can’t wait to pick it up.

At the moment I am reading Franny & Zooey. I love the writing style and that it is so different from what I usually read. Oh, and the covers are absolutely pretty, don’t you think?

The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary

What it is about…

Tiffy and Leon share a flat
Tiffy and Leon share a bed
Tiffy and Leon have never met…

Tiffy Moore needs a cheap flat, and fast. Leon Twomey works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they’re crazy, but it’s the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy’s at work in the day and she has the run of the place the rest of the time.

But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven’t met yet, they’re about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rulebook out the window…

I heard SO many good reviews about The Flatshare. You all know that I love romance and good love stories. I have read a lot of them but never came across a story like The Flatshare. I am so excited to see how the author worked out this idea of two strangers, sleeping in one bed without making it weird. But I am very positive that I will like it. Oh my goodness, I am so excited!

Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams

What it is about…

Bridget Jones’s Diary meets Americanah in this disarmingly honest, boldly political, and truly inclusive novel that will speak to anyone who has gone looking for love and found something very different in its place.

Queenie Jenkins is a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in London, straddling two cultures and slotting neatly into neither. She works at a national newspaper, where she’s constantly forced to compare herself to her white middle class peers. After a messy break up from her long-term white boyfriend, Queenie seeks comfort in all the wrong places…including several hazardous men who do a good job of occupying brain space and a bad job of affirming self-worth.

As Queenie careens from one questionable decision to another, she finds herself wondering, “What are you doing? Why are you doing it? Who do you want to be?”—all of the questions today’s woman must face in a world trying to answer them for her.

I received this book as part of the April Books That Matter subscription box and don’t know a lot about it yet but the topic of the month’s box was Black Women’s History Month. It is supposed to be a fearless novel, addressing being black, politics, relationships and sexuality. I never read something similar before, so I am really excited to get into the story and tell you guys what I think.

Falling Fast by Bianca Iosivoni

  1. Hey, Franziska, I am so happy, that I could inspire you for writing this kind of blogpost! The books you bought all sound so interesting and have very beautiful covers! I’ve heard a lot about “Falling Fast” the past few days on Instagram and Co. Maybe I should try it, too!
