I love routines. Especially my skincare routine. For me, it’s not only about using nice products for my skin. It’s the part of my day where I take time for myself and look after myself. I love routines. The repetition of the exact same thing can be very grounding and soothing. They also make me feel like I am actually in charge of the things that happen in my life which is always nice 🙂
So, here we go!
1. Step: Remove Makeup
I didn’t wear makeup on this day but if I do, I use my reusable makeup pads (find them here) + a little water. If my eye makeup won’t come off, I’d add a little bit of oil or use makeup wipes.
2. Step: Face Mask
I like doing masks every time I get out of the shower. They feel so nice on your skin and I like the pampered feeling afterwards.
Just recently I used up and downsized a lot of my skincare products and amongst them are two masks. One of them is the City Living – Facial Mask by Löwengrip. It is supposed to deep cleanse, hydrate + sooth your skin and act anti-polluting. I always leave it on for about 20 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water.
I absolutely love the feeling of it and the smell is not too strong which I appreciate a lot.
3. Step: Cleanse
My host grandma (is that even a thing?!) was the first person who introduced me to skincare. She is very passionate about it and got me this tiny skincare kit for Christmas two years ago. Back then was my first time using a cleanser and I haven’t stopped ever since then.
I tried out a few cleansers over the last year but have never seen such a good result as with the Löwengrip Cell Renewal – Facial Cleanser. After I talked about my skin story on my Instagram Account, Löwengrip reached out to me and told me that their Advanced Skin Care series could help my skin and I thought I’d give it a try. It couldn’t get any worse anyway.
I am honestly a bit speechless because it is actually working. My skin is far from being perfect but what I noticed is that a lot of the inflammation has gone down and my skin feels a lot smoother.
Löwengrips Facial Cleanser includes BHA (Beta-Hydroxy-Acid) which in skincare, is known as salicylic acid. Since its anti-inflammatory and -bacterial properties, it helps with acne and blackheads which is exactly what my skin needs at the moment.
Usually, I put a peanut-sized amount on my palms and massage it into my skin. After that, I wet my hands and massage my skin another time which activates the cleanser. The third round is for rinsing off.
4. Step: Moisturize
My fourth step varies. I usually use the Cell Renewal – Facial Cream by Löwengrip since it works so good on my skin. The Cream includes BHA (talked about it above), AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) which is a fruit acid and encourages cell renewal by removing old skin cells. It can also help with scars and pigmentation. I have a lot of dark spots as a result of my acne and I really hope this will help 🙂
I started using the Weleda Naturally Clear Mattierendes Fluid because I didn’t want to run out of the Löwengrip cream (almost empty!!). I used it before but it didn’t really show any visible results. What I love about it though is its cooling effect on the skin and that it absorbs so quickly. The fluid includes willow bark which clears up and hydrates your skin.
Usually, I just massage the creams into my skin. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen!
5. Step: Treating dark spots
Last but not least I just recently started using Bi-Oil. I heard about it a lot of times before and thought it might also help with my dark spots. I know you have to use it for quite a long time to see results. I just really hope it will work.
What I do is that I drip a tiny amount of the oil on a cotton swab, apply it onto the dark spot and then massage it into my skin.
A few other things I do:
- I do this exact skincare routine (except removing makeup + mask) every morning after I wake up and every night before I go to bed
- I don’t use the same face towel for more than two times (usually one towel per day). And I also don’t rub my face with it but rather gently tab it. I feel like that works the best for my skin and it’s always important to be kind and gentle to yourself 🙂
- I stopped using a beauty blender because I feel like it absorbs a lot of bacteria and I simply don’t want to risk extra inflammation. That is actually what my dermatologist recommended me 🙂 Something else I do is that I clean my brushes, especially the ones which go on my cheeks, very regularly.
Do you have any other skincare tips? Would love to hear about them 🙂
Thank you Löwengrip for sending me your products. This blog post isn’t part of any collaboration though. I wrote it because I wanted to and I don’t get paid or anything for it. All opinions are my own 🙂
