Hi friends, how are you doing? I hope you are all good.
My second week off work just started and I have to admit that I have been taking everything very slow, especially last week. On the one hand I loved it, on the other hand, I felt so unproductive and was very caught up in my thoughts which was a little exhausting. I’ve always been the kind of person who absolutely loves quiet and alone time and I still do but lately I find it, like I said, rather exhausting. ANYWAYS, now that I had so much time off, I thought I am gonna share my favorite ways to unwind with you.
Take a little time for yourself from time to time. So important to recharge and connect with yourself. Okay, without further ado, here are my favorite ways to unwind:
Go for a walk
I know, I know, I talked about it so many times on here and my Instagram Account but going for a walk, getting some fresh air, is my favorite way to unwind at the moment. I don’t mind if it’s sunny, or rainy. I always feel so much better, and have a little more headspace.
If I am really caught up in my thoughts, I like to close my eyes and concentrate on my surroundings. The wind on my skin, the rustling of the leaves, the soft chirping of the birds. So relaxing and it helps you to get out of your head.
Meditation
When we are talking about connecting to our surroundings, I have to list Mediation too. I haven’t been in a very good meditating routine lately but I am slowly getting back into it. Especially, when Uni starts in a couple of weeks, I want to get back to meditating at least 10 minutes after I wake up. It gives me so much headspace and is a very relaxing start to the day which I definitely need. But also if you are having a blah day or just need to relax I can highly recommend doing a quick three, five or ten minutes meditation to, again, connect with your surroundings and your breath, and give your mind a little breather.
Listening to music/audiobooks
And by listening to music or an audiobook I mean without any distractions. I did that yesterdays and it was so peaceful. Just lay on your bed, listening to the words of the singer or reader. I haven’t done that in a while and I noticed that even though I haven’t necessarily been productive (whatever that means), I definitely didn’t take proper quiet time for myself as in doing nothing. Try it, I am sure you will like it 🙂
Journaling
I made a pact with myself. Every morning, I am only allowed to go on my phone, after I wrote down my thoughts.
So, I get up, brush my teeth, make my coffee and then take my journal and write down everything that’s on my mind. So therapeutic. I’ve been journaling for probably over ten years now and still love and appreciate its effects a lot.
Do you journal?
Run, run, run
You know the drill. Besides going for a walk, running is my favorite way to unwind. Not only can I blast music, but it also helps me to get out my energy and to just focus on my breathing, which sometimes feels like a little meditation.
Also, the Nike Run Club app offers different guided runs which are great too! I love their guided runs for bad days or when you are low on energy. Definitely try them out! 🙂
What are your favorite ways to unwind?
Have a good week, Franziska x
