Things I won’t buy in 2021

I saw a couple of YouTube videos where people talked about what they won’t buy in 2021 and was inspired to think about it myself and create my own list. I thought, especially with one of my goals for 2021 being to make smarter financial decisions, this blog post would be a good one to write.

Notebooks

I am not going to buy a new notebook unless I have no unused one left. It’s just unnecessary and they are so expensive.

Water Bottles

This is a no-brainer in my opinion. Everyone should own a reusable water bottle. Not only is it convenient and cheap, but it’s also so much better for the environment

Audible Subscription

I had an Audible subscription for about three months and loved it. However, the audiobooks I decided to get are all around 15-20 hours long and I am never able to finish them within a month. So, I decided to cancel my subscription, finish all audiobooks in my library and then get an Audible subscription again.

Another tip to save money: if you have Spotify, check if they have the audiobook you want to listen to. They added so many LYX (German publisher) audiobooks. Love it and helps me save a lot of money :))

Pads & Tampons

For about six months now, I’ve been using a menstrual cup, and not only is it so much more convenient and better for the environment, but it’s also crazy how much money you save.

Flow Cup kindly sent me one of their menstrual cups. The great thing about Flow Cup is that when you buy one menstrual cup, they donate one. A lack of menstrual products is a huge problem in low-income countries. Many women stop going to school when they have their period due to a lack of sanitary protection which makes me so sad and even more happy that companies like Flow Cup exist.

New books

When I was younger I bought so many books just for the sake of owning them. Definitely not smart and I am so thankful that changed. Now, I try to read every book on my tbr pile before buying a new one. I especially started reading more classics because of this new ‘rule‘ and it’s been so fun!!

Fast Fashion

I’ve talked about fair fashion and fair fashion companies a lot on my Instagram and have been trying to not buy from any fast fashion brands. I’ve never been someone who spends a lot of money on clothes because honestly, I don’t need a lot of things. I’d much rather spend my money on a high-quality and ethically made or second-hand piece of clothing than on a fast fashion one. I am not perfect. Definitely not but I’ve definitely become a lot better and that makes me happy :))

What is one thing you no longer buy?
